Lessons From Listeners

I’ve always struggled in comprehending both written and audible words from an early age. Because of this I developed a strong belief that listeners were born, not taught.  I suppose it made me feel better about my shortcomings.  Several years ago I came across a Ted Talk by Julian Treasure that challenged my thinking. He shared how, “The premium on accurate and careful listening has simply disappeared.” This truth alone would have been depressing if not followed up with the “5 Ways to Listen Better”. From practicing “silence” to shifting your “listening position”, his tips are easy to accomplish and vital to our success in being present as leaders.

TAKE ACTION 

Mr. Treasure goes on to share, “A world where we don’t listen to each other at all, is a very scary place indeed”.  Take the next seven and a half minutes of your time to grow as a BOLD leader by learning how you too can become a better listener.
