Role Reversal: Be A Blessing to Someone

One afternoon while traveling through one of our country's busiest airports, I came across an older gentleman charged with the duty of cleaning the restrooms.  As he went about sweeping, mopping, and wiping down the counters, he would often look up at the travelers as they left and say, "You have a blessed day sir!"  I noticed in spite of his kindness, he rarely got a response.  As I left I said, "Thank you for doing such a great job!"  He looked back at me and said, "You are welcome sir.  It's nice to be appreciated."  It's nice to be appreciated . . . a concept all too often forgotten. 

TAKE ACTION

Be honest, who has a job or task on your campus that you would never want to have? Surprise that person one day and do that job for them.  Maybe it's for an hour, a day, or even all week.  Be a Servant Leader by letting them know how much you appreciate their hard work. After that, encourage them to pay it forward and do the same thing for someone else.
