No Excuses Leadership

Ignore the Noise

A recent Pew Research study found that 7 in 10 Americans suffer from "news fatigue", the feeling of being overwhelmed by "informational overload".  With so much information out there, what often begins as a positive pursuit for ideas can quickly bring us down the rabbit hole consisting of an overabundance of opinion.  I don't know about you, but I can identify.

Leaders by nature are made up of professionals who constantly seek out strategies to foster continuous growth.  Even so, it's important to remember that the best ways to learn are always in face to face settings.  Most find that they garner far better ideas by observing ideas in action rather than reading about them in a book, magazine, or online.  Even the ideas in this app would be meaningless if not followed up by a strong encouragement to Take Action and BE BOLD.

Being present with our professional relationships on campus is always the best strategy to help us become exceptional leaders. We can help to quiet the noise if we all take the time to log out of our devices from time to time and tune in to the colleagues we serve.

TAKE ACTION

Information can be a blessing and a curse.  Be honest with yourself about where it is for you on the spectrum.  Read the article below about the effect the 24 hour news cycle has on us all.
