Reaching People with the Transforming Grace of Jesus Christ

What is Faith Promise?

Faith Promise is an act of faith that promises God to give a specific amount to World Evangelism through regular, weekly, monthly, or annual giving in addition to tithes.

The basis of Faith Promise is the scripture found in 2 Corinthians 8:3—5;
“For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints. And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God’s will.”

Faith Promise is:
            † A God-inspired Bible based plan
† A method of financing world evangelism
† A personal demonstration of faith
† A commitment to give as God provides

· The tithe is the Lord’s and Faith Promises are LOVE gifts to God beyond our tithes.
· Faith Promises are NOT a substitute for mission offerings. We will continue to receive special offerings     such as Alabaster.
· Faith Promise is the lifeline for our 788 active or retired missionaries. We now have 151 world areas that the Church of the Nazarene is preaching the gospel in and ministering to the needs of the people.

Our Churches Faith Promise Goal:  $38,500

Arizona District Impact Team

This is the seventeenth year I have had the privilege of serving alongside our district teenagers on the AZ, S/NV District Impact Choir.  This year almost thirty members of our choir went to Mexico to serve our Lord.  My wife Marlene and I have five children and this Impact Ministry along with Casa Ministries, Mexico Orphanages, has captured all of our hearts for many years.  Our children see Mexico Missions as a way of life.

First allow me to share a little about Impact’s history.  In the fall of 1991, I was asked by Bob Bolton, the director of Encounter Ministries to put a teen AZ Impact Choir together for Encounter ’91-’92 in Guadalajara, Mexico.  This, music & missions, had been a direction that my wife and I had thought God was leading us as we had led music and teen ministries here in Sierra Vista for 9 years to include teen choir trips and one Work and Witness trip to Juarez, Mexico.  We had greatly benefited from a similar ministry as teenagers.  We led a small group of about 20 teens and 10 adults on this trip as part of a large ministry group of over 2000 people.  Even though we enjoyed this trip, it was very expensive, over $750 per person, and we were able to build very few relationships and did very little hands on ministry.

In the three years that followed Impact did “singing ministry tours”.  We traveled through Texas, Colorado, and California.  These were enjoyable but I missed the “Mission Ministry” experience and decided to try Encounter again in 1996 to Monterrey, Mexico.  This trip was almost $900 per person and I still felt it did not measure up as hands on mission experience.

That fall I began planning for my first Impact Mission Ministry trip to Hermosillo.  With the help of Jim Johnson and Joe Watkins I was introduced to Pastor Fernandez, the zone project leader for the state of Sonora.  He walked beside us as we built relationships with local churches and their pastors.  At that time there were seven churches and two missions in the state of Sonora.  Now, 11 years later, there are eleven churches and four missions.  I can tell you without hesitation that God has used the teens and their leaders of Impact in a thousand ways to make an amazing difference for His Kingdom in Sonora, Mexico.

This summer will be Impact’s 12th Invasion for Christ of Hermosillo & Guaymas, Mexico.  We took one break several years and did an inner city ministry in Los Angeles, CA.  Six years ago we were able to assist and facilitate the beginning of a mission church on the bay in Guaymas, Mexico.  We sponsor small construction projects, Vacation Bible Schools, and the use of the Jesus Film and the Evangecube.  One year Impact helped build a sanctuary/Sunday School building in Aqua Prieta Mexico.  Impact has had a leading and vital role in planting Hermosillo 6th, 7th, and 8th Churches as well as Aqua Prieta, and Guaymas.  They are currently working with the Kino Way and Molino de Camou Mission.  Impact has also provided huge assistance in many ways to 7 other Sonoran Nazarene Churches.

In the past 5 years Marlene and I have become involved with Casa Esperanza Ministries.  I know your church has been involved with this Mexican orphanage ministry as well.  We are so excited that the government has basically told the church that if you will meet the needs of these kids you can raise them as followers of Christ.  Marlene and I have 3 or 4 more years to work as teachers and then we plan to make ourselves available to God to use us in these ministries as long as he allows us to continue.

Sorry this is so rough…I just have put it off too long to do much better…take what you like and try not to let them see what a lousy job I did.
