Witness is the work that our
church does to bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ. At Oakton United
Methodist Church this work is done by spreading the Good News of Jesus
Christ through its outreach programs. First and foremost, is sharing God’s
love through its many witnessing ministries that are directed to members and
friends of our church and the missions and ministries which touch the lives
of people outside our community.
Our Witnessing Ministries have
been developed to show members the benefits of participating in our church,
rather than just attending a weekly church service. Our members are learning
that participation should not be optional but imperative and yield eternal
benefits.
The endless opportunities to give
gifts of our time, talents, and funds are shown by the journey of our church
into God’s Mission through Jesus Christ and our support of the following
spiritual missions to our members and friends of our church:
-
Stephen Ministry: Counseling those in need.
-
Mailbox Ministry: Sending cards, signed by church members, to
those who are ill.
-
Homebound Communion: Serving the communion elements to those
unable to attend church.
-
Prayer
Calendar: Encourages members to pray for the pastor and
leadership of the church
We carry out the Great Commission
(Matthew 28:19) by sharing our faith in Christ through such missions and
programs such as:
-

families
-
Community Helping Others: Donate household items, funds and
medical assistance to indigent families in the local community.
