Office Administrator

Barbara Feurtado

Barbara Jane Sweeney Feurtado is the youngest of three sisters born and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts, located just south of Boston, and the home of two U.S. Presidents.   She has fond memories of camping and winter skiing in the New England mountains.

After marrying James Wesley Feurtado in 1971, she moved to Bad Abling, Germany (Bavaria)  where they enjoyed winter skiing and volksmarching, and the beauty of the alps right outside their window!   After leaving the military they settled down in Fairfax, Virginia.  After two years Jim received a job working for a CPA firm in Boston which lead them back to Quincy for 20 years where they raised their family.  We were active members of Fort Square Presbyterian Church.  Barbara was a deacon, (a caring ministry), Sunday school teacher, and president of the women’s ministry.

Our lives changed in November 1996 when we moved back to Fairfax, Virginia.  Jim took a job with the FDIC in Washington, DC.,   Our children were scattered, Julie, a Navy nurse, was stationed in San Diego, Ursula was a student at Clemson University and Andrew was in the 4th grade.  Barbara stayed home for six months getting family and home settled.  Then it was time to find a job.

In August 1997, after praying and searching for a job with school hours, Oakton United Methodist Church met her needs.  Her job is two-fold; ministry and administrative.   Working with people in a caring environment allows Barbara to demonstrate Christian love in action.
