Learning
How to Trust … Again
Dr.
Ed Delph & Alan & Pauly Heller
- You say individuals choose a
“lifestyle of trust or a lifestyle of self-sufficiency.” What are
the results of both choices?
- How
does my image of what God is like affect my ability to trust others?
- You
say a “vision of trust” is needed. How do you define a vision of
trust?
- How
do we typically lose trust?
- You
tell the story of Amanda and the dragon from Tales of the Kingdom which talks about “dragon eggs.” What
are some of the dragon eggs in our lives?
- What
are some of the lessons we can learn from not getting rid of the
dragon eggs when they’re small?
- Give
us an example of cute baby dragons following their nature.
- You
say, “Only you can slay your dragon.” What is God’s part in
getting rid of what has taken over our lives?
- What
are “shaping events” in our lives?
- How
do the unseen motives beneath our obvious behaviors affect our lives?
- How
important are the conscious or subconscious vows we make?
- In
the book you refer to Satan as the liar. Why?
- You
say, “Blaming everything on the liar and praying for deliverance is
not going to solve the problem. You must undo the deception that he
has helped put in your mind.” How do we go about undoing deception?
- Why
do a person’s emotions from childhood trauma need to be healed
before he or she can take steps toward wholeness?
- What
are the key steps toward regaining trust?
- Why
is it so important to trust in the Word of God?
- You
say, “It’s not the person you trust, but God doing His work.”
Please explain.
- Why
is forgiveness crucial?
- You
say, “Before you can trust God you must be able to ignore the
influences of our culture, demolish the idol of self-reliance, and
replace trust-destroying vows with vows that help you to trust.”
What are some of those vows that help us trust?
- What
is the Holy Spirit’s role in helping us deal with painful memories?
