May we introduce you to...
The 5 Minute Miracle...
Standing Out By Becoming Outstanding!
What if what you have heard about God was not entirely true?
What if what you heard about churches was not entirely true?
What if what you heard about Christians is not entirely true?
What if only a small part of the big picture about God, Church and Christians is what you have formed your opinions on?
What if you formed a strategy of living on partial truths and partial untruths about God, Church and Christians?
What is God really like?
What are most churches and church people really like, and why do they think the way they do?
What if you formed your belief system and life outlook on someone else’s agenda driven opinions on what God, Church and Christians are like, rather than forming your own opinions?
Is God just for the uneducated, unaware?
Is God a Republican?
Is God the one Who causes all these wars?
Are all churches after your money or is it just a few?
Are all Christians weird or is it just a few?
If God were to speak for Himself in your language to your real life issues, what would He say?
What if we could clear away the ‘static’ of other opinions, tune into God and find out what He thinks about you and your everyday life?
Can I learn about Him and end up not being religious and all that stuff?
In other words, is God a god you can know and can you trust Him…with your life?
Good questions, huh? If you are looking for answers to some of these questions, the chances are I have written this book for you!
This book is for two groups of people. The first group is for those who may not have ever even considered God or are open to the idea of God, yet not quite sure what is true and what is not true about God, Church and Christians. It’s hard to know, isn’t it? There are so many ideas and opinions out there, aren’t there? And everyone can point out an example, can’t they? Everyone has a plan for your life. Everyone wants your vote. Everyone wants you to believe as they do. Everyone has an agenda that wants you to steer in their direction, don’t they?
The second group that I have written this book for is churched people who are looking for real answers to everyday life’s issues. This book equips you for life, not just church life. It’s wisdom for everyday living. It addresses issues that you may never hear of in your church. Churches are generally very good at ‘churchy’ stuff but not always the best at real life stuff. Most seminaries don’t always equip pastors for that. So, I have written on everyday issues, on everyday things, in everyday language that you, your friends, your family and your community will understand. It’s theologically correct yet totally relatable. There’s no compromise in this book, but there is courtesy. It has the best meat of all for churched people….wisdom!
If you love humor, you will love this book. Everyone loves to laugh and you will laugh. I use creativity…lots of creativity. The purpose of this book is to build a bridge, not burn a bridge with my readers. I desire to put it God’s way and my way, but nicely. I promise tact. Someone once said, “Tact is the art of making a point without making an enemy.” That is what I want to do with you. I’ll tell the truth and still be your friend afterwards. And…I use wisdom in this book. The topics in this book are about everyday, relevant issues that you are concerned about and the wisdom that you won’t get from anywhere else on how to deal with these issues. At the very least, you will get another opinion.
I write this book in small chapters that you can read at work, at play, at home, in the bathroom, wherever. It’s manageable. It’s not a lengthy discourse weighted down with terms that are impossible to digest. Its bite size yet very, very nutritious! The topics I chose will inspire you, encourage you, motivate you and get your day going. The topics are enjoyable and engaging, yet impacting and transforming. The topics will help you to know the real God by knowing what He thinks and the wisdom and answers He has concerning everyday issues in your life. And, it has wisdom for you on issues that you may have never thought about, yet is very necessary for life, both here and in the future. That’s a good thing!
The goal of this book is to help you who may or may not be considering God to consider God. I hope to share with you some of the things I have learned about God as a pastor since 1980, a Doctor of Ministry, businessman, educator and as a newspaper writer. I hope to add to all those other opinions of God that you are hearing. Maybe I can even give you a more complete and more accurate picture of God than you are getting. Perhaps I can move you from unaware to aware, from uninterested to interested, from unconcerned to concerned, or maybe even from antagonistic to God to at least neutral, maybe even positive for God. Maybe I can even open hearts, open minds and open doors for God to have influence in your life as well as many others.
For churched people reading this book, it’s a great resource for you to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord. It’s also a wonderful resource to give to your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and the community to introduce them through practical wisdom to the God they can know. To our friends out there who are un-churched, please read and enjoy. I promise we will be friends afterwards. This book will build you up and equip you for a more meaningful and productive life, if nothing else by the wisdom concepts from God designed to enhance life for all.
So, let’s clear the static. Let’s open our minds and have some revelation at the same time. Let’s have God speak for Himself through the chapters and even titles of the chapters in this book. Enjoy it and employ it! You aren’t spending time in reading this book, you are investing time and you will get a great return on your investment!
