Ministry Report for 28
Nationstrategy
had ministry and conferences this year in England, Ireland, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Japan, Australia,
New Zealand, Nigeria, and South Africa. We traveled multiple times this year to Japan, Singapore and
Indonesia for community transformation initiation and conferences. We conducted 13 Church-Community Connection
Conferences this year and spoke 159 times in formal conference or church settings. We also had conferences
in Hawaii, Florida (3 times in 3 different cities), Arizona, Nevada, Washington D.C. and Maryland.
The
total number of leaders present at Church-Community Connection conferences would be well over 2000. The
number of people we have ministered to this year would be well over 10,000. That is not to mention the
number reached through my 4 books and well as my newspaper readership. As far as I know, I’m in at least
15 newspapers weekly in America, New Zealand, and South Africa. My readership is about 500,000 people
per week. That’s a big church!
As
far as special projects or information that was accomplished in 2008, here are a few.
*We
held third Nationstrategy Fund Raising event at Phoenix Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona. This gave our
non -profit corporation greater exposure and influence in the Phoenix area. Our keynote speakers were
a mayor from Avondale, Arizona, a spokesman from the Arizona Department of Economic Security, a Commander
from the Phoenix Police Department and the publisher of The Glendale Star and Peoria Times.
*We
designed a new logo and slogan….People Who Empower People To Transform Communities….as
well as…..We reveal ‘Mindskins’ That Create Wineskins For Community Transformation and Enhancement.
This has further defined and described our ministry more quickly and accurately.
*Nationstrategy
has had a great part in the partial transformation of Maryvale, a suburb in the Metro-Phoenix area, in
working with the Police and Commander Tim Hampton in designing community centers and a positive philosophy
toward residents in the community that has drastically reduced crime in the area. Commander Hampton has
been on several television news stations as the lead story as well as taping a one half hour special
with the Mayor of Phoenix. All of this is due to Tim’s outstanding leadership and as well as reading
my book, Church @ Community. It was the tipping point in his personal journey towards creating better
communities. He realized that as a Commander in the police force, he is a ‘pastor’ to the community.
*Nationstrategy
was a catalyst for the initiation of the Crystal Darkness Alliance in Reno, Nevada. This alliance is
a combination of church and community activists who decided to do something about the huge ‘crystal’
problem in Reno. Several pastors attending our Church-Community Connection conference in Reno were convinced
after the conference do get involved in solving problems in the community. This alliance has even influenced
the Nevada governor’s wife, Dawn Gibbons, who said….”This campaign sends a clear message; not in my house,
not in my neighborhood, not in my school.”
*Nationstrategy
has been a catalyst in establishing the Peoria Faith Council. Peoria is a suburb in the Metro-Phoenix
area. This is a combination of local government working with local churches to ‘find a need and meet
it.’ The Council is off and running and coordinating events like the Run For Life event at the Peoria
Sports station where over 6000 people are expected to run all day to raise funds for cancer research.
The churches in the area are coordinating the whole thing. The mayor of Peoria couldn’t be happier. This
year there will be over 700 cancer survivors walking into the stadium like a funeral procession. This
event gains 1000’s in attendance each year.
*Nationstrategy
was also on national television in Jakarta, Indonesia talking about community enhancement and transformation.
*Transformation
Florida was started in Destin, Florida by Nationstrategy and local businessman Mark Taylor. Transformation
Florida is about bringing the community up to its full potential. Mark was strongly influenced by my
book, Church @ Community. NS held a Church-Community Connection conference there and as a result, Transformation
Florida was formed. We also helped start a community transformation movement in Melbourne, Florida with
businessman Paul Prosbury and his associates after a Church-Community Connection conference.
*Nationstrategy
helped initiate, along with pastors from Benoni, South Africa, a movement to improve the Police facilities
of their city. Several projects to enhance the city are now being started. Local pastor Joshua Churchyard
is coordinating this community enhancement initiative. This group has really hit the ground running thanks
to people who want to incarnate in the community.
*Nationstrategy
has been having wonderful influence with the Evangelical Lutheran Churches of America. The denomination
recently bought one Church @ Community books for every pastor in their denominational jurisdiction. I
was back in the Washington, DC area in December building relationships and networking with some of the
leaders of this denomination. They are wonderful people and ready to engage the community.
*Nationstrategy
is working with Dr. Tony Rapu in Lagos, Nigeria who is also a pastor of a very influential church in
Lagos. Tony is also a medical doctor who is feeding 1000’s of people in the low income areas of the city.
His social work is outstanding. He is a very high power person in the city and we are happy to work with
him. He admires our approach to community transformation and enhancement. We admire his commitment to
the community as well as church.
*Nationstrategy
worked with every main community sphere of influence in 2008. We want to be people of influence in a
place of influence with God’s wisdom to transform communities.
*This
year Nationstrategy envisioned and empowered more leaders and influencers in the church to be leaders
and influencers in the community than in any preceding year of our ministry. NS was started in 2001.
As a result of our participation in the community, we have had many letters of thanks and endorsements
coming from influencers in the community. Please click ‘What Community Leaders Say’ on our website. We
are very awed and humbled by these endorsements.
*Ed’s
new book entitled, The Five Minute Miracle-Standing Out By Becoming Outstanding, was released
in December 2008. The book is another community transformation resource. The book is a collection of
100 of Ed’s articles published in The Glendale Star and The Peoria Times. The book is designed to move
people in the community as well as church from uninterested to interested, unconcerned to concerned,
unaware to aware, closed to open, concerning God, church and Christians. It’s opens minds and hearts
to consider God again. Please look at our website, www.nationstrategy,
to find out more about this books and Ed’s other three books.
