  Luke 18:27

And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Luke 18:27 (Read all of Luke 18)
The context of today's verse is very powerful if considered in proper context. The full extent of this verse does not send us off to a self styled creation of faith as some have done. The proper subject matter has to do with the entry into eternal life by one of the Jewish rulers. This man asked Jesus what he needed to do to qualify for eternal life.
The answer came:
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
To his credit the ruler had kept every law mentioned by Jesus. But Jesus added one surprise . . . sell everything you have, give to the poor and follow me. This requirement was not included with the commandments of the law and the ruler sadly walked away. How hard it is for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God Jesus said. The conditions set by Jesus appeared to be completely impossible as He spoke a well know proverb which stated that it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. When the disciples expressed concern about His position Jesus clarified that He was talking about those who place their trust in riches. Yes, it is indeed impossible for any man who places his trust in anything but the Lord to receive or enter into eternal life.
In proper context . . . Impossible.
