2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14 (Read all of 2 Corinthians 6)
What makes up your circle of friends? Today's scripture warns against entering into agreements with others who do not believe in the Lord Jesus . . . that require the compromise of your Christian values. Why? If you belong to Jesus you live by rules from a system different from the rules of the system of this world. There is no question that a person who does not know the Lord will think completely different from one who does know Him. As well, those that know Christ will not, no, cannot agree with those that do not know Him without compromising their own belief.
The Christian who will bypass warnings like the one in today's scripture and proceed to ill-advisedly connect with non-Christians in ways contrary to good Christian etiquette and life style is asking for future disaster.
Not all non-Christian connections are against scriptures, but for sure those that require compromise of proper Christian living are.
When we choose to ignore the blessed instructions of the Word of God we cannot blame God for the outcome. Prayer can be offered but how can we disobey or ignore God's instructions and then ask Him to deliver us from a situation that He previously warned us about?
We should be careful how we choose our friends, mates, business partners, etc.
While God forgives, we still reap what you sow in this life.

John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33 (Read all of John 16)
These things I have spoken unto you . . . what things?
I believe that these things refers, probably, to all the topics contained in the early gospel chapters of, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, concerning His ministry. As partially expressed in Barnes' Notes on the New Testament, He had, in the early part of his ministry, forewarned the disciples of calamities and persecutions (Matthew 10:16, 5:10-12; Matthew 9:15), but he had not fully acquainted them with the nature, design, and sources of their trials; of the fact, circumstances, and object of his death and ascension to heaven; nor had He clearly revealed to them that the Holy Spirit would descend, sanctify, and guide them; especially he had not, in one continued discourse, grouped all these things together, and placed their sorrows and consolations so fully before their minds. I believe that all these are included, in the expression "these things."
As you read through John 16 you'll see where Jesus provides a better outline of what was to come and what the disciples could expect . . . He pulled no punches as they say. Nothing has changed for the Body of Christ today. Anyone who walks by faith in the steps of our spiritual Christian forefathers and of our Lord can testify that these things remain as Jesus said. "Ye, and all that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution" II Timothy 3:12 . . . If ye were in the world the world would love its own, but because ye are not of the world and I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you, John 15:19.
Because of His victory over the world, the flesh and the devil, and the promise of protection to His disciples in the days of Jesus' ministry, the same protection is provided for His disciples of today. We should find comfort in His words . . . in me you shall have peace . . . be of good cheer . . . the world is overcome in me.

Matthew 9:22
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
Matthew 9:22 (Read all of Matthew 9)
The above concluding comment by Jesus comes on the tail of a tragic situation reversed. The woman referenced in the above scripture suffered for 12 years with what the bible calls an issue of blood. Blood loss is always potentially life threatening if not fatal. Jesus was her last hope and she did not waste time asking for personal opinions or checking to see what may or may not be politically correct. She determined to stretch herself towards Jesus and place all of her trust in Him. The result is expressed in today's scripture. Jesus said to her, "thy faith hath made the whole."
Jesus still honors the kind of faith exhibited by the woman with the issue of blood. He honors it as it applies to our believing and trusting Him in all matters. If you know Him today there was a time when you did not know Him . . . when you were suffering from the deadly influence of sin . . . bleeding, if you will, with no other help in sight.
As biblically typed in the above parable Jesus is the last and only hope of wholeness. Stretch your faith towards Him and Him only and resist the allurements of worldly counterfeit gods.

Love is the single most important first step we should take before attempting to do anything in the name of our Lord Jesus.

Isaiah 40:28-31
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31 (Read all of Isaiah 40)

Psalm 90:12
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
In verse 10 of today's scripture we read the following: "The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away." We're told by the writer of Psalm 90 to look for about seventy or a few more years to make up a lifetime. Seventy years go by quickly especially when they are your years. Imagine if you knew what the next ten, fifteen, or twenty years would be. On Monday, June 3rd, you will have an opportunity to land a certain job . . . on Friday the 1st you could face a life threatening situation so you should stay home that day . . . The Psalmist asked to be taught how to number his days, so he could wisely use each day.
I would love to know what to expect in my daily experiences but even if I did I would probably botch many of the opportunities because of one little three letter word, "sin." What I do have and what you have is God's promise that all things will work in good favor for those that love Him. We have the promise that the Lord Jesus will never leave nor forsake us . . . what we need to do daily is to walk by faith in these and many other promises of God and not by sight.

Proverbs 10:19
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
Proverbs 10:19 (Read all of Proverbs 10)
Today's scripture intimates that many words almost insures that sin is present in some form . . . but few words point to an internal examination or self searching, (wisdom). The book of James addresses the dangers of an overly active tongue. While James points to the physical tongue, the true source of its actions is the heart . . . according to the scriptures it is from the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. The dangers of many words manifest when others hear, react to, or act upon what resides in the heart of the speaker. It is no wonder that James 1:19 tells us to be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. What this says to us Christians is that we should be ready to hear or listen . . . slow or temperate with your words . . . and not be so easily moved to anger.

1 John 4:13
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
1 John 4:13 (Read all of 1 John 4)
Jesus said: If you abide in me and my words abide in you . . . I and my Father are one . . . even the Spirit of truth who is with you and shall be in you . . . Ye are my disciples if you do whatsoever I command you to do. When the Comforter has come He will lead you and guide you into all truth . . . He shall speak of me . . He shall take of mine and show it unto you. It is expedient for you that I go away for if I go not away the Comforter will not come . . . He that hath my commandents, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Does your heart rejoice because you know the one who spoke these words? Is there an internal witness which shouts AMEN? Have you been washed by the blood of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit of God? Can your love for Jesus be seen by how you keep His commandments? The answers reveal position and condition.

Psalms 62:7
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Psalms 62:7 (Read all of Psalms 62)
Jesus said "... in me ye shall have peace..." Today's scripture is a great affirmation that God is my salvation. In other words nothing or no one can save me but God . . . as far as glory goes I am not worthy of glory and any glory that you see in me is because of my God. I gain my strength from Him and whenever I am under attack or duress, I know that He will safely hide me.
Give Him glory today for this affirmation.

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18 (Read all of 1 John 4)
This scripture is anchored to a more descriptive set of instructions found in the complete chapter of I John 4. Statements in this chapter are absolute and true. It is unfortunate that many of us still struggle with the directives given in I John 4 but still confess to be doing God’s will. The only wiggle room to be found in today’s scripture is the wiggle room you make for yourself. We are told to love our brother and sister. Why don’t we? Some say that the bible tells me that I must love you not like you. Where is that found in the bible? Scripture tells me that if I don’t love you I am crippled by fear. We say, I just don’t like that person . . . the scripture calls that fearful and incomplete in Jesus . . . our love is immature.
There is no way around this point . . . He that loves is made perfect in God.
No matter the cost . . .
LOVE ONE ANOTHER!
