Harvard University researchers have predicted that within the next 40 years Americans will hit a 42% obesity rate (http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6A35SO20101104). I know I know…It seems that every time I sit down to write at my computer lately, I end up being the bearer of bad news. Unfortunately, there is a lot of bad news to report when it comes to the health and fitness of United States citizens. I will make a note to write a more positive offering in my next post. We still must address these recent findings. In a past blog I noted that we, as Americans have become much more accepting of excessive weight and obesity simply because it has become so prevalent. It is infinitely more difficult to critique someone else’s problems when you share that same problem. As my favorite book so profoundly states, “”Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” Too many people are carrying around that plank.
I attend various Bible studies and church groups throughout the year. I do this to accomplish several ends. First, I am an information junkie. I never want to be caught with my pants down unable to address a challenge or question; especially when it comes to questions of my faith. I know I will never know it all; however, the more information I have the better position I am in to defend that which is most important to me; the health of my family and friends fall into a similar category.
The second reason I find myself at church so often is due to a desire for full accountability. I do not mean that I wish to hold others accountable; rather, I wish to surround myself with people who will hold me accountable and let me know when I am not living the life I wish for…a life of character and strength. So what does this all have to do with effective weight loss, effective weight control and fitness? The very first line of the article states, “Americans will keep growing fatter until 42% of the nation is considered obese, and having fat friends is part of the problem…”
Essentially, the researchers determined that your friends are a reflection of you and visa versa. If you hang out with people that drink too much then you need to ask yourself if you drink too much as well. Likewise, if your friends are obese then eating may become an issue in your life. Maybe it is already. It is very hard, if not impossible for an alcoholic to stay clear of his/her demon if all their friends meet at a bar. The same is true for you if you have difficulties with your weight and all of your friends meet at the desert bar.
Because our national weight problem is getting worse, things will become exponentially more difficult for people with weight challenges. There are fewer people out there that take their weight seriously, so the relational support systems are disappearing. The study showed that “…an American adult has a 2% chance of becoming obese in any given year, and each obese social contact increases the risk of becoming obese by .5% per year.
So what is the solution? The first step is to find a weight loss and fitness program that you can do like Isagenix®. The 30-Day Cleansing and Fat Burning System or the 9-Day Cleansing and Fat Burning System may be the path to a thinner you. It certainly was for Tamara and me. However, if your friends and family are constantly challenging your efforts by offering you candy, chips and soda then that path will be filled with landmines that may undermine your success.
Therefore, the second step is to make a choice. Either extricate yourself from that social circle (this is very difficult I know), or decide to be the example. Tell your friends or family that you are seeking their support or organize a “Biggest Loser” contest. See Tamara’s Biggest Loser story here…

As many of you are aware Mark Victor Hansen is one of my favorite writers when it comes to the topic of success. He does not limit his discussions to financial independence; rather, he believes success manifests itself in many
The One Minute Millionaire
forms. One of the concepts presented in his book The One Minute Millionaire is the belief that “givers get”. Essentially, Mr. Hansen claims that rewards quite often present themselves as a direct result of a person’s selflessness. I have read accounts and been personal witness to people living out this belief on numerous occasions.
My own belief in Mr. Hansen’s assertion has caused me to share my Isagenix success story with others, and my wife Tamara feels the same way. Even if we had never experienced the amazing financial success we have had through our association with Isagenix international, we still would have felt a burning desire to share with others the incredible health benefits of this nutritional cleansing and replenishing program. We feel so strongly about the life changing potential of Isagenix products that We feel the reward comes from the opportunity to change someones life for the better. For some, the idea of simply offering support and information to others does not seem like much of a personal reward, but just like watching your child open a special gift on Christmas morning, realizing that you could be offering someone the gift of a better, healthier life is a truly incredible feeling.
William "The Refrigerator" Perry
So how does this whole “givers get” idea work? I offer two recent examples. In 2007 Superbowl veteran William “The Refrigerator” Perry, formerly of the Chicago Bears, put his Superbowl ring up for auction. Shortly thereafter Mr. Perry was stricken with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a disease that can cause paralysis. In 2011 a 10-year old boy heard about Mr. Perry’s ordeal and happened upon what he believed to be Mr. Perry’s ring. With the permission of his parent’s, the 10-year old took $8500.00 of his college fund and purchased the ring. He then made arrangements to meet Mr. Perry and return the ring. It was truly an act of a “giver” that will surely be rewarded in the long run. Mr. Perry was extremely appreciative and gave the boy two signed jersey’s and several signed football cards.
This past sunday the pastor at my church told the story of his trip to a restaurant with his family. He has several children which means that every outing to eat costs a fair amount of money. On this particular venture he went to pay his bill and was told that the cashier had paid for his families meal. Dumbfounded, he approached the young cashier who obviously made little money and told her he would not allow her to offer such a generous gift. The cashier responded that she had been saving her money for some time so she could commit herself to this unselfish act, and that he had no right to deny her the pleasure of it. As I have in the past when witnessing similar acts, if I had been present for this event I would have tried to do something special for this girl in return. I would venture a guess that most people would if given the opportunity.
I guess that is why it is so easy for me to talk about Isagenix with people. I see the change that the products have made in my life, and the life of my family and want to share it with anyone who will listen. Telomeres have become a buzz word at the CleanseBenefits Blog and at Cleansebenefits.com. It seems like I am finding new information every week on the implications and impact ofTelomeres in the world of health and. Yesterday a British on-line magazine printed an amazing article describing how a relatively inexpensive medical test can tell you how long you will live. The blood test essentially determines the length of your Telomeres (The protective tips on the end of your chromosomes) in order to predict Longevity.
As I have related in previous posts, as your cells reproduce your Telomeres begin to shorten. The shorter your Telomeres, the closer you get to the end of your life. When your Telomeres shorten enough, they are unable to effectively and efficiently allow for the replication of cells…and you die.
I do have some issues with a test that can tell you how long you will live. First and foremost, I don’t think I want to know when I am going to die. Such knowledge could be very damaging and dangerous to society as a whole. If a significant percentage of the public felt that they had nothing to live for, or that there was no point to leading a good and productive life, I could foresee us slipping into anarchy. Second, I believe that this information could be used against us by unscrupulous insurance companies. What impact would their be on our ability to purchase life insurance if the company new we were going to die less than a year later?
Dr. William Andrews
Despite these concerns, I still believe there is some exciting news here. If scientists are able to identify this predictor to longevity, it can be assumed that there are those who are seeking ways to manipulate it. In other words, there are those who are looking for ways to extend Telomeres, and as a result extend our lives. I have talked of one example in previous posts. Dr. William Andrews is currently working with Master Formulator John Anderson of Isagenix in an attempt to identify a combination of natural ingredients that will have a positive effect on Telomerase, the enzyme in our bodies that protect Telomeres. As each day and week passes, it appears that we are getting closer and closer to this “Fountain of Youth“.
