Luke 21:33

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." Luke 21:33

Looking for that which is secure and dependable in a world that is in a downward spiral? Here it is! The Word of God! Jesus is teaching His disciples concerning the coming of the Kingdom of God and some of the signs that accompany it's appearing. As He does so, He reminds them of the signs of nature and how they could always tell when summer was near, by the appearing of the buds on the fig tree. He explains that the signs of the Kingdom can just as surely be determined as we attend to the Word...

Romans 8:31

"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31

As Paul explores the sovereign work of God in bringing His chosen ones to salvation, he comes to these questions that bring great comfort and peace once they are answered according to the Scriptures. The first question asks, what answers can we give to the awesome fact that God has brought us from where we were, dead in trespasses and sin, to where we are now, alive in Jesus Christ all by His grace? My only answer has to be, thank you Lord for your mercy and grace you have shown toward...

Luke 14:11

"For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 14:11

The Lord Jesus uses the example of a person that chooses to think that they deserve a better seat at a wedding than someone else in order to teach a great lesson on humility. I must confess, in my opinion, there has never been a generation of Christians that need this lesson more than this generation. It breaks my heart to see the pride and arrogance that seems to be predominant among many believers. It seems that being presumptuous toward God and others is what many consider...

Galatians 4:16

"Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?" Galatians 4:16

As Paul writes to the Church in Galatia, he is seeking to restore them to the truth of living in the grace of God rather than in the legalism that they had fallen into by the hands of erroneous teachers. As he spoke to them of the truth of God's Word concerning their error, some railed upon him and refused his teaching. In the process of attempting to teach the truth to them, he asked if he became their enemy because he loved them enough to tell them the truth. The sad fact of this statement...

Romans 15:13

"Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." Romans 15:13

As Paul points the Gentile believers toward the truth of the oneness of every believer with Christ, be they Jew or Gentile, he closes his thesis with an admonition that you and I today can benefit from. We can have all joy and peace by believing the truths of God, and this peace comes from the God of all hope. As we rejoice in the salvation that is given freely to those that believe, we can abound in hope by the power of the Holy Ghost....

II Corinthians 11:3

"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds, should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." II Corinthians 11:3

In his great love for Christians in Corinth, Paul brings to light some of the error that is being taught to them. In doing so he explains his concern and the damage that allowing these false teachings to infiltrate the Church could do and that irreparable spiritual damage to the believers could occur. He explains that his fear is that the minds of Christians could be corrupted from the simplicity that is in the message...

I Corinthians 2:5

"That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." I Corinthians 2:5

Paul the Apostle writes to the believers in Corinth concerning the difference between human wisdom and the power of God. He reminds them that excellency of speech of human wisdom does not necessarily equate to the truth of God. Often people are persuaded more by people’s ability to orate rather than the truth being spoken. Truth may be given in simple terms and by an uneducated spoke person. Yet the charisma of the speaker or the eloquence of the words spoken may appeal to the intellect...
